One thing a filmmaker needs to know when embarking on such a journey: be prepared for the bittersweet. Waiting can be bitter. Anticipation can be sweet. The longing can leave you aching. The hope can bring bliss. It's a rocky road. I'm reminded of Hinds' Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard, and The Song of Songs.
JERRY
God writes straight in crooked lines. Your movies are being made.
But how long will it take to get into production? God only knows.
This summer, my friend Len and I made our traditional pilgrimage to Holy Hill, Shrine of Mary. A Carmelite friar gave me a blessing.
FRIAR
Where are you from?
JEANNE
Los Angeles.
FRIAR
I think I've seen your movies.
LEN
I'll bet you have!
He also echoed wisdom that pertained to the plight.
FRIAR
I was ordained in Rome during World War II.
I took the first sixty years kinda fast.
I think I'll take the next sixty slow.
Words to live by. And now, watching the DVD extras of "The Name of the Rose", and recalling Werner Herzog's "Burden of Dreams", I think I can be patient.

Patience is trusting in the timing of God.

Well, you are patient!
A book titled Zen and the Art of Archery by Eugen Herrigel tells it well.
MASTER
You must learn to wait properly.
And, while you're waiting, you are being shaped by the One Who Knows. Be prepared... for anything...
